The Boston Police Foundation has been busy this past month putting your generous donations to good work! This month we had the privilege of making two disbursements of funds which will benefit all the men and women of the Boston Police Department.
On July 7th, I had the privilege, along with Board Member Bob Long, of presenting a check in the amount of $25,000 to the Boston Police Relief Association. This organization has as its mission to provide financial support in the event of the death of any of its more than 2,100 members. The ability to honor an officer who has passed, whether on duty or as a retired member who faithfully carried out his or her duties for years, and to provide financial support to the family is in the best traditions of any police department. We are proud to support that cause.
Further, at our June 18th meeting of the Boston Police Foundation Board, we authorized $20,000 for the acquisition of camera technology designed to proactively alert the Boston Police Department to potential crime. This is technology that will be deployed in the future, but our partial funding of this initiative in a proactive manner demonstrates our belief in the mission of the Boston Police Department to prevent crime as well as to respond to it.
Please stay tuned to this page to learn more about how the Boston Police Foundation is using your charitable giving to better the mission of the Boston Police Department and to support the men and women who every day put their lives on the line for us!
With gratitude to our donors and all the members of the Boston Police Department,
Dick Parry
