The Boston Marathon, An Important Moment In Boston History
The Boston Marathon is an annual tradition that falls on the 3rd Monday of April in Boston, also known as Patriot’s day. What originally started in 1897 after the widespread success of the first marathon competition in the Summer Olympics, The Boston Marathon has become a coveted event where avid runners, charities, organizations, and professionals come together; to better their previous record, to raise money for a good cause, but ultimately to celebrate Boston and its resiliance!
The Boston Marathon covers a grand total of 26 miles and 385 yards. The course starts in Eastern Massachusetts beginning in Hopkington that winds through flat & hilly terrain that leads up to “Heartbreak Hill” and eventually the finish line, Boston.
